Proudly standing on top of a cliff and overlooking Verde Island Passage and Mindoro Island, Faro de Punta Malabrigo or Malabrigo Point Lighthouse is one of the oldest working lighthouses in the Philippines. Located in Lobo, Batangas, it was completed and lit in 1896 said to be inspired by Victorian architecture.
It has been guiding seafarers traversing the Verde Island passage for over a century now and has survived countless storms, earthquakes, and even wars. The tower now runs on solar power and uses bright halogen lamps, blending the old and the new to keep sailors safe.

We drove all the way to Malabrigo from Manila to join the photo contest conducted by the Municipality of Lobo tourism office. We chose particularly this historical landmark since we are all fascinated with the lighthouses and perfect for shooting the milky way. It was an overnight trip, and we stayed only outside the site with our mats while waiting for the milky way to show up.

It was my first time shooting the milky way and lighthouse at the same time, It wasn’t bad but I need to practice. All the hard works paid off that night, the sky was stunning, the tower was beautiful and the ocean was peaceful, although we didn’t win.
