During my stay at Cagayan de Oro city, I went to one of their many attractions, the historical Gaston Park; named after their former mayor Segundo Gaston. This park is located near St. Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral and City Museum. With green and refreshing scenery, I’m sure people will love to spend their time at this place. This is also a good place to hang out and bond with friends and families during weekend.
As I walked around, I saw a National Historical Institute Marker that was placed in the park in 2000. This park has been a part of history because it became a settlement and execution ground for Spanish criminals and eventually served as a training ground for local revolutionaries during Filipino- American war of 1900.
I may be a bit unlucky as I was not able to witness their infamous Dancing Fountain in the middle of the park but as they said, there’s always a next time! 😊
