My visit to Cagayan is never complete without having a bite of Tuguegarao’s Pancit Batil Patong. That is why I always make sure to drop by at Tuguegarao first before heading home to my hometown at Gattaran, just to satisfy my cravings for their popular pancit. Like what they always say ” You aren’t at home if you haven’t eaten Pancit Batil Patong” (I totally agree) .

Batil means “to beat” and “patong” means to put on top. Some say that this refers to a beaten egg put on top of the noodles and mixed. Others say, that batil refers to the soup with the beaten egg and patong means you pour the soup on top of the dish as sauce. For such a little town, you can see pansiteria in almost every corner in Tuguegarao like 7 eleven in Metro Manila.

Actually, this is my first time to eat in this new pansiteria located in Winnawwa, Tuguegarao. I was thrilled to try their newly added topping-Chicharon Bulaklak. Beyond expectation, the taste was so good, with their homemade noodles, meat, egg on top and soup on the other side. It goes very well with a sauce mix of freshly sliced onions, vinegar, soy sauce and lots of calamansi and of course, with a cold soft drinks.

Indeed, this is my “Obligatory food photo when I’m HOME“.
