In remembrance of our Independence Day, let us look on one of the witnesses on how the Philippines struggle over time from different foreign invaders who once desired to conquer and own our country.
Intramuros, a city within the walls. Built and located between the Manila Bay and Pasig River. As facts were written and seen around the area, Intramuros piqued a lot of foreign invader’s interest. Already known by the Spaniards, they secured some of the walls with cannons ready to attack invaders. A few years shortly, the Spaniards surrendered the Philippines to America. Then Fort Santiago was made as the Philippine division of the US army. It is nice that they put a history board on every corner to better understand what it has been through.
Intramuros had undergone changes. Today, after several renovations to restore its original structure. Intramuros now sits along with its walls and stories to tell, of struggle and defeat, of democracy and now, freedom. #BayangMagiliw
